Spirit Keepers Lecture "Kennewick Man on Trial" - In July of 1996, skeletal remains were unearthed from the shore of the Columbia River in Kennewick, Washington. The skeleton was carbon dated between 5,650 and 9,510 years old. Important legal, ethical, and scientifc issues were raised by the discovery. This lecture will present a variety of points of view on these issues, including federal law and the care of Native American human remains, how people first came to the Americas, and changing ideas about race. The lecture supplements the exhibition "Kennewick Man on Trial". Agua Caliente Cultural Museum is located at 219 S. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs. Admission is free. Hours: Labor Day to Memorial Day, Weds-Sat 10-5 and Sun noon-5; Memorial Day to Labor Day, Fri & Sat 10-5 and Sun noon-5.
